Toy Story 3 Review:

Work is finally finished on Toy Story 3, the third installment in this much-loved series of animated films from Disney's Pixar studio. The movie is slated for release on June 18, 2010 in Disney Digital 3-D and sees the return of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Hamm and the rest of the toys.

It has been nearly ten years since the release of Toy Story 2, and in Toy Story 3 time has not been standing still. Andy has grown up. He is now 18 and heading off to college. The movie begins with him packing up his toys in preparation for his little sister, Molly (no longer a toddler), moving into his larger room while he is gone. Through a series of mistakes and mis-adventures the toys end up dumped in a daycare center where they are terrorized by toddlers. They team up with some new toys to plan their escape and get back home.

The original voice cast has returned for Toy Story 3, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and John Ratzenberger. Also appearing in the movie will be Michael Keaton, who will be providing the voice for a Ken doll, and Timothy Dalton, best known for his portrayal of James Bond in "The Living Daylights", will be the British accent behind Mr. Pricklepants, a hedgehog toy who is a dedicated amateur thespian.

A sneak preview of the opening scenes from Toy Story 3 was shown at the D23 Expo. D23 is Disney's official community for their fans and the D23 Expo was their first major event. It was held in Anaheim on September 10–13, 2009.

The partially unfinished scenes showed Andy packing up his toys (but setting Woody, still his favorite, aside) for the attic in a garbage bag. Since he is packing up his room before leaving for college, his mother assumes the garbage bag is garbage and it ends up on the curb with the rest of the trash. Woody attempts a rescue and the scene is reported to end with the bags being thrown in the back of the garbage truck and crushed by the compactor.

A fantastic sounding teaser, but unfortunately it is not yet available for viewing on the web. Given that it was reported that the scenes were not fully finished, chances are it won't be released and excited fans who were not at D23 will have to wait for an official trailer.

Fans who do not think they can wait until June can take heart - as part of the build-up to the release of Toy Story 3, Disney is re-releasing Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in Disney Digital 3-D! John Lasseter, Pixar's Chief Creative Officer, is personally overseeing the 3-D conversion process for the movies. Toy Story will be re-released in 3-D in cinemas on October 2, 2009, and Toy Story 2 will follow on February 12, 2010.
